I grew up on a farm and always enjoyed helping my parents on our hog and beekeeping operation. One of my first jobs off the family farm was working for a nursery and strawberry farm in the Interlake, where I worked for several summers. This is where my passion for growing berries began.
The Berry Patch is now part of our family farm near Roseau River, where we raise both berries and pumpkins. It’s hard work, but I find working the land and planting and harvesting a crop very rewarding. I love seeing people walk away with fresh fruit that is so healthy and tasty.
Currently we have a strawberry and raspberry u-pick and pre-pick. Strawberry season generally runs for three weeks starting anywhere from the end of June to the end of July, depending on the weather. We supply baskets, but you are welcome to bring your own four litre ice cream pail.
The end of strawberry picking leads directly into the raspberry season, which also lasts for approximately three weeks. We have red, black and yellow raspberries for you to choose from.
Come out to the farm in fall and see all the different pumpkins! We have a large patch of pumpkins that can be used for baking. We also grow a large variety for carving and decorating – many different sizes, shapes and colors!
We take care to ensure our berries are the highest quality. It is very labor intensive as most of our work is done by hand. Running a berry patch is not just a 3-week season – there is a lot of work to do before the fruit harvest as well as after, preparing it for the following year.
We are located just outside of Roseau River on road 28E. Watch for signs saying The Berry Patch. It’s best to call in advance to pre order or to check days of picking. We are by no means a large operation so we′ve done a lot of our u-pick and pre-picks by appointment. You can call or text us at 204-712-3175.
Our pumpkin patch is open in fall (September and October) evenings and weekends.
We would love for you could come out to the farm and experience it firsthand! It’s a pleasure for us to serve the community and we thank you for supporting our local business.
